In the past, most villagers who lived at Ban Nai, Tambon
Thabkwang, Amphur Kaengkoi, Saraburi province, worked in the nearby
communities. Housewives would stay home to take care of children and the
houses. Many people had a lot of spare time, but very little income. They were
trying to generate more income by selling Thai desserts or handicrafts. But
their business wasn’t all that successful because there was no supporting
market. The situation was even worse for some villagers who couldn’t do any
work as they had never been trained to do anything.
However, this is now a thing of the past. The villagers of Ban Nai are now
smiling bigger, happier smiles. Khun Sombang-orn Sudjai is a good example.
Khun Sombang-orn’s happy smiles originated from when the Siam City Cement
Public Company Limited established the “Khao Man Learning Center” in her
community. The center educates local people with the knowledge and skills they
need to generate additional income for their families. These include how to
make aritificial flowers, cooking classes, painting classes, sculpture carving
classes and batik painting classes.
Khun sombang-orn and her friends decided to enroll with the programs and she
chose the batik painting class. Ater 100hours of training, she and her friends
completed the courses and were ready to create quality works of their own. Not
long after that, one of her producs was selected as a Top 3 OTOP product and
won a reat deal of admiration.
Siam City Cement Public Company Limited is committed to do all that it takes to
create more happy smiles for Thai people like Khun Sombang-orn and her friends.
