INSEE Ecocycle Joins as Speaker at Workshop “Accelerating Decarbonization in the Cement and Concrete Sector: Financing the Transition”
On September 2, 2025, Mr. Bruno Fux, CEO of INSEE Ecocycle, participated as a speaker in the workshop “Accelerating Decarbonization in the Cement and Concrete Sector: Financing the Transition”, organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The workshop was held at the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai, Bangkok.
Mr. Bruno’s presentation focused on the topic of “Thailand landfills over 7.5 million tons of waste annually, causing pollution and resource loss, and is among the top ten ocean plastic polluters. The key solution highlights the use of non-recyclable waste as alternative fuel in cement kilns (co-processing), effectively reducing landfill waste and CO2 emissions. Lessons from Europe show that policy support and investment increase the Thermal Substitution Rate (TSR), leading to landfill reduction. For Thailand, recommendations include implementing landfill taxes, providing transportation subsidies, and creating comprehensive waste management plans to enable a sustainable transition.
