“MAT NGOT” LIBRARY HANDOVER CEREMONY – THE FIRST CERITIFIED GREEN BUILDING AT NINH THUAN

On November 21st, 2022, INSEE Vietnam held the Handover Ceremony of the “Mat Ngot” project – Library for children in mountainous areas at Phuoc Tan A Primary School, Ma Ty Hamlet, Phuoc Tan Commune, Bac Ai District, Ninh Thuan Province. The event was successfully organized with the participation of INSEE Vietnam representatives, sponsors, the presence of local authorities and the Champion group of the 2021 INSEE Prize.

The name of the project, which is inspired by the way Jews teach their children how to love books thanks to sweet drops of honey, aims to bring a safe and sustainable reading and learning space for less-fortunate children at Phuoc Tan A Primary School, Bac Ai District, Ninh Thuan Province. The project contributes to the development of local educational facilities. With a total area of nearly 100m2, the library is implemented with sustainable building materials and solutions, helping the project receive Lotus certification by the Vietnam Green Building Council.

In the Handover Ceremony, Mr. Eamon John Ginley, General Director of INSEE Vietnam shared his sincere feelings: “I am very proud to witness such a meaningful and practical project for the community have been constructed. Mat Ngot Library will be a healthy playground and a “stepping stone” for the children's journey of accumulating knowledge in this area. During 28 years of development in Vietnam, INSEE has always strived to implement (Corporate Social Responsibility) CSR activities, especially focusing on the goal of educational development for the local community. The INSEE Prize has provided the opportunity to realize many projects toward a sustainable society, and today, the 9th project in the INSEE Prize journey has been turned into reality. I hope we will continue accompanying the development of Vietnam in general and localities in particular with more practical projects in the future." Also in the ceremony, Ms. Dang Thi Ly - Principal of Phuoc Tan A Primary School also expressed her delight and thanked INSEE Vietnam and its partners for providing the children an extremely safe and sustainable living space, helping children access an invaluable treasure – books.

The “Mat Ngot” project marked successful 13-year journey of the INSEE Prize with the theme of Sustainable Construction and Environment with these following criteria: social contribution, economic efficiency, eco-friendly and applicability. To make this project a reality, it’s also thanks to the collaboration from the partners including: the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, Kingspan Company Limited, Western Refrigeration Electric Company Limited, REE Electric Appliances J.S.C, Nippon Paint (Vietnam) Company Limited, Bridgestone Tire Sales Vietnam Llc, University of Technology - Vietnam National University HCMC, Vietnam Green Building Council, CONWOOD by INSEE Vietnam.

The INSEE Prize not only values the best ideas, but also supports the students involved in turning those ideas into reality. Through this award, INSEE Vietnam wants to raise awareness among students, future generations of architects and engineers about sustainable construction solutions and the applicability of green buildings.
