INSEE VIETNAM JOINS VIETNAM’S CARBON EXCHANGE, REAFFIRMING ITS PIONEERING COMMITMENT TO EMISSIONS REDUCTION

2026-07-14

On June 29, 2026, Siam City Cement (INSEE) Vietnam proudly became one of the pioneering companies to successfully conduct transactions on the first day of smooth operations of Vietnam’s Carbon Exchange. This marks an important milestone, demonstrating INSEE’s continued efforts to comply with government regulations, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and accelerate the transition toward a low-carbon economy.

Vietnam’s Carbon Exchange was officially launched, with its first trading session held at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, marking a significant step forward in the development and completion of Vietnam’s domestic carbon market. The operation of the exchange not only establishes a transparent mechanism for trading emission allowances and carbon credits, but also contributes to the realization of Vietnam’s commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. During the first trading session of Vietnam’s Carbon Exchange, the total trading volume reached 1,210 allowances. INSEE alone successfully completed both buying and selling transactions, with a total volume of 510 allowances, equivalent to 510 tonnes of CO₂e. This demonstrates the company’s proactive approach to regulatory compliance and its active participation in the carbon market in line with Vietnam’s green transition agenda.

As a pioneer in green building materials, INSEE has consistently placed greenhouse gas emissions reduction at the heart of its sustainable development strategy. Over the years, the company has continuously invested in advanced production solutions to improve energy efficiency, increase the use of alternative fuels and raw materials, expand circular economy practices, and apply modern technologies to reduce CO₂ emissions across its entire value chain.

Today, all INSEE cement products have a low carbon footprint. In particular, INSEE Power-S has achieved a 33% reduction in carbon emissions based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), compared with conventional Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). In 2025, INSEE’s average CO₂ emissions were recorded at approximately 337 kg per tonne of cement, significantly lower than the industry average referenced for the same period. These figures demonstrate that INSEE is not merely talking about sustainability as a strategic direction, but is translating it into tangible operational results — from optimizing clinker usage and increasing the use of alternative energy to expanding circular economy solutions.

In addition, INSEE’s biodiversity conservation plan sets an ambition to achieve a net positive impact by 2030. During 2024–2025, INSEE planted and handed over more than 48,000 trees to green the embankments surrounding the Phu My Species and Habitat Conservation Area and the Hon Chong Landscape Protection Area. These efforts are helping establish sustainable native vegetation adapted to local soil and climatic conditions, while contributing to the restoration of important habitats for the return, feeding, and settlement of the Sarus Crane.

Participating in the Carbon Exchange not only enables INSEE to effectively fulfill its regulatory obligations, but also creates further momentum for the company to continue investing in emissions reduction initiatives, improving operational efficiency, and creating long-term sustainable value.

INSEE Vietnam shared: “We are proud that INSEE Vietnam is one of the first companies to participate in Vietnam’s Carbon Exchange. This is not only an important milestone for INSEE, but also a pioneering experience that is receiving particular attention from the INSEE Group, as Vietnam is the first country within the Group’s network to operate a carbon market. We believe that the carbon market will serve as a driving force for the green transition, while reaffirming INSEE’s long-term commitment to accompanying Vietnam on its journey toward a low-carbon economy and the achievement of Net Zero.”

With more than three decades of operations in Vietnam, INSEE has consistently pioneered the development of sustainable cement and building material solutions while continuously innovating to minimize environmental impacts. Participation in the carbon market represents the next step in the company’s sustainable development strategy, contributing to the development of a greener, more competitive, and sustainable construction industry for the future.
