INSEE Skim Coat

Use on a very fine and smooth surface, finishing with thickness about 0.5 - 2.0mm.

It is suitable for application on precast wall, cast in place wall, masonry wall, cement board, and gypsum board.

It can also help to fix small holes, hairline cracks, and coarse plastering surfaces.

The final surface has a very fine smoothness and is ready for paint application or attaching wallpaper.

It can be used for both interior and exterior walls.

Mixing Ratio

20kg (1 bag) per 7-8 ltrs of clean water

Coverage rates

20kg (1 bag) can cover an area of approximately 200-300 sqf, at a thickness of 1 mm.

Storage & Shelf Life

The product is in a sealed package and has not been activated.
Valid for 6 months from the date of manufacture by keeping it in a well-ventilated, dry, not damp place.

Surface preparation

  1. Remove seam on surface to get level surface (concrete surface or plaster surface should be hardened for at least 3 - 7 days).
  2. Clean the substrate to be free from dust, oil, curing compound, grease or any surface contaminants.
  3. Moisten the substrate thoroughly and wait until substrate is semi-dried.

Mixing

Slowly add INSEE Skim Coat into water, following the recommended mixing ratio.
Use a low speed mixer drill, 400-600 rpm to blend the admixtures for 2-3 minutes, until the mixture is homogeneous and lump free.

Instructions

  1. Use a steel trowel to apply skim coat on the substrate at 0.5-1.0mm thickness per layer, wait for the first layer to dry before applying the next layer, apply at least 2 layers.
  2. Allow to dry for at least 12-24 hours before polishing the surface smooth, even with fine sandpaper.
    Leave the surface fully dry for at least 3-7 days before finishing the next step.
  3. Wet mortar should be used within 1 hour.

Precautions

  • Always wear gloves and protective equipment when in use.
    If your skin becomes irritated, please use soap and water to wash off the affected area immediately.
    If the symptoms do not improve, consult a physician.
  • If the product gets into the eyes, rinse your eyes immediately with clean water several times and then visit a doctor.
  • Do not eat. Keep out of reach of children.
  • If the product is not used up within 1 day, the bag should be tightly closed and stored in a plastic bag.
    Roll the bag tightly.
  • Lift with care.

Recommendations

  • Should be used according to the instructions for maximum efficiency.
  • Should be used at the appropriate temperature of 10-35 degrees Celsius.
  • Do not use in flooded areas and for floor plastering.
  • Waiting period for painting should follow the paint manufacturer's instructions.
  • Keep the product in the shaded dry area, without moisture.
